Founded in 1988, Colonial began in a modest plaza in Harker Heights, Texas. Since then, 3 generations of the Autry family have provided fiduciary service to Texas landlords, consistently displaying their willingness to show up for the homeowner.

In 2024, the Autry family recognized a pressing need for change in the industry, as evidenced by the largely ignored fact that over 50% of American landlords opt to self-manage their properties. This trend, they believe, stems from a simple yet critical issue: the average property manager prioritizes self-dealing, creating an environment where greed has become normalized. In response, the Autry family made the bold decision to transform Colonial into America’s first property management company to adopt a Non-Profit model. If our clients owned the company, they would expect maximum efficiency and fair, non-profit pricing—anything less would be a mere pretense of acting in their "best" interest. With this radical shift, Colonial ensures that its homeowners are only charged for the cost of its operations. Colonial's ultimate purpose is to create competition within the industry great enough to cause competitors to adopt more client friendly pricing.
